Hi friends! My name is Mikayla and I am so happy that you are here! I created Golden Lights Co. with aspirations to be able to give back to the communities that I cherish and love. I am very passionate about mental health and the disability community and want to spread awareness and advocate for these communities. I will be doing this by donating a percentage of my profits to non-profits that align with the company's mission.

I, myself, am apart of both of these communities. I was born with a birth defect called Congenital Femoral Deficiency (CFD) that has led to me to have 30+ operations. Through this time I have learned a lot about myself but have also had many struggles coping with this and other life situations. In 2020 I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. These are things that I face every single day and I understand how difficult it can be. I believe that mental health is very undervalued in society and is not taken seriously by an unfortunately large number of people and systems. The disability community is also a vastly underrepresented minority group in our society as well. I really hope to make my business a place that is inspiring, educational, and a safe space for people to connect.

The name Golden Lights Co. was inspired by the golden rays of the sun and golden hour. I always feel most at peace during this time of day and love how everything has a slight golden glow. It is a reminder to me everyday to just sit down, rest, and admire the world around me. I want to spread this feeling of peace and joy as much as I can. Every launch will have an intentional message behind it and will be created with love and care.
